Business Plan Competition
|
When: April 27, 2008
Where: MacMillan Hall 117
Time: TBA
FREE AND OPEN TO
THE PUBLIC!
The Grand Daddy of them all! Student teams compete for $50,000 in cash
prizes and in-kind services. Two rounds of judging are held. For the first round, we send the business plans to
judges around the country. Multiple judges will evaluate each business plan. The top five (5) teams will be selected
to present their ventures publicly at Brown University on the day of the competition. A panel of judges will award a
total of $50,000 to the three (3) ventures deemed most promising. The venture deemed having the most potential will be
awarded a total grant of $25,000 in cash and professional services. The two runners-up will receive total grants of $12,500
each in cash and professional services. The three winning teams will also be able to send their business plans
to the 2nd Annual DFJ East Coast Challenge, where $250,000 will be awarded! Please click here to learn more about the DFJ East Coast Challenge.
All currently registered full-time and part-time
undergraduate and graduate Brown students from any department are eligible to participate. Brown students may include non-Brown
students on their teams; however, there must be substantial involvement from at least one eligible Brown student on the team.
You may form a venture team of one to six persons, although studies of successful entrepreneurial teams show that
a team of three to five members is the optimal size. Students are encouraged to seek the involvement and assistance
of Brown faculty, staff, alumni, people outside the Brown community, and anyone who they believe might assist them in launching
their venture. Both for-profit and not-for-profit ideas are welcome.
