Every year the Program holds a discussion with
a panel of successful entrepreneurs. This year's theme was "Doing What You Love."
“Doing What You Love: Lessons from Successful Entrepreneurs.”
At the Parents
Weekend Event students and parents discovered what it really means to follow your dreams from a panel of successful
entrepreneurs, including Jody Adams '80, chef and owner of Rialto Restaurant, Josef
Mittlemann '72, Brown Professor of Engineering and Entrepreneurship and former COO of Silverstein Properties, Warren
Brown '93, founder of Cakelove Bakery, host of Sugar Rush on the Food Network and Ilma Paixao, founder
of the Handiera Project and teaching fellow at MIT. Moderated by Jon Cohen '87, co-founder of the Newport
Hotel Group and Brown Adjunct Lecturer in Engineering, panelists discussed how creativity and innovation have helped them
navigate career choices, as well as how Brown and entrepreneurship have shaped their lives. The panel discussion was
followed by Q&A and a reception, during which parents and students were able to talk one-on-one with our panelists.
